Biomedical Engineering
Severino Scholars Fund Recipient

My life’s dream is to be able to develop something or do something in my future career as a biomedical engineer that would help people. Rensselaer students are trying to make the world a better place – that’s why we chose Rensselaer. I have truly been inspired by the expertise and work of our talented researchers and network as they continue the fight against this global pandemic, and I hope to participate in research in the Capital District, either at Rensselaer or a neighboring college or facility.

There are some extracurricular activities that I’ve enjoyed being part of on campus. I am an officer of The Boxing Club, which I joined because I wanted to try something different while I was in college, to get “out of my element”. I was also a mentee in the Women’s Mentoring Program during my freshman year, which was really helpful for me, and I found enjoyment in later becoming a mentor to helping freshman transition to life at Rensselaer.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend Rensselaer – an education that has been made possible by the generosity of the Rensselaer community. Receiving the Severino Scholars Fund has given me confidence in myself and my abilities. I know I am capable of working hard and knowing that there are people out there supporting me is very uplifting. I am the oldest of four siblings, and scholarship has not only helped further my education, but frees up other finances to go towards the education for the rest of my family.
